Latinx representation is growing in mainstream media with increased popularity of shows like One Day at a Time, and comic book characters like America Chavez. Television, comics, and film have begun expanding their number of Latinx characters, however there is a lack of diversity in those characters. There is no one way to be Latinx, yet Latinx characters tend to fall into well worn tropes with many Latinx people feeling misrepresented, under represented, or left out completely. Exploring Latinx representation through a queer lens, this panel will discuss what we currently see, and what we hope to see in the expanding landscape of Latinx representation across all media.
